Leading with compassion is hard...

Leading with compassion and building a more compassionate workplace culture is hard.

It is not easy work.

Reflecting on our leadership can be uncomfortable.

Acknowledging that your workplace might cause people to suffer, despite your good intentions, can be deeply uncomfortable.

Revealing organisational truths and speaking up about what is getting in the way requires courage. It can leave us and others feeling vulnerable (been there).

Enhanced awareness and insight about what is working and what isn’t requires us to respond and act, and that’s not always easy to do, it can be exhausting.

Trying to steer the culture and change the ‘system’ can feel overwhelming (I hear you), and we might give up, before we even start.

…but the benefits of taking on the challenge are huge, and it can be done.

We can liberate ourselves, and our organisations from the habits, rituals, actions, and behaviours that hold us back and bring forward the ones that empower, enable, and support us and others to build and sustain workplaces where people thrive, who in turn help the business to thrive.

Compassionate leadership and compassionate workplace cultures enhance employee wellbeing, resilience, relationships, inclusion, diversity, ethical practice, engagement, retention, connectivity, cooperation, and collaboration…

This is not soft and fluffy, ‘pie in the sky’ stuff, it’s not the stuff of dreams. Its research backed and evidenced based – enhancing empathy, kindness and compassion is good for business.

I encourage you to choose compassion.

Compassion works…

…but it is not an easy path to tread. The journey can be long and arduous at times, however like all journeys, we generally feel better once we have started, so that is my encouragement to all of us – to start, and if you have already started, that’s awesome, keep going! I encourage us all to take practical, considered, and meaningful steps to awaken and embed compassion in our organisations and enhance it across our leadership and relationships. Why? Because everyone benefits when we do.

This is a call to action, and I offer the 360 Degrees of Compassion Framework and the accompanying diagnostics, tools, and resources as that starting point. It will help and support you and your organisation to stay on track, and course correct when you might need to.

You can find out more in ‘The Compassionate Leader’s Playbook’ or sign up to one of our coaching and development programmes. You can even join our community and receive regular updates, hints, tips, and access to new resources. We won’t try to sell you anything or deluge you with useless spam and information. That’s not how we roll.

You can even come along to our monthly, free ‘Compassion Labs’ and meet up with and learn from other people who are all working hard to build a more compassionate world of work.

All the info is on the website, and we would love to meet you and support you in your journey, in whatever way works best for you.
